Pipeline XYZ mapping service offered by CDRiA provides an operator with precise and detailed information on geographical and spatia location of the pipeline (pipeline route in x,y,z coordinates). XYZ mapping is based on a survey of CDRiA intelligent pig (Korsonic, Kalibrak) installed with independent on-board navigation system, which measures XYZ data. The navigation system uses a high performance fiber optic gyro technology (FOG) to provide a high-accuracy measurement of pipeline spatial coordinates (XYZ data). The recorded XYZ data may be converted to the reference system required by the operator (e.g. WGS84, PUWG2000 etc.) The main applications of XYZ mapping: - Detailed visualization of the actual pipeline route, which also includes pipeline features:
- 2D route displayed on the digital maps (e.g. for geodetic and GIS purposes)
- 3D route combined with a numerical model of the land (e.g. for determination of the pipeline depth of cover)
- Incorporation of the in-line inspection data (metal losses etc.) into XYZ data, which is subsequently converted into the spatial land model
- Comparison of multiple XYZ mapping surveys for detection of pipeline movement resulting from: riverbed erosion, slope instability or mining damage etc.
- Assessment of pipeline spatial profiles laid in inaccessible locations (under the river bottoms, swamps, water reservoirs etc.)
- Verification of geodetics data in an inaccessible terrain
